ISB and IICA to jointly offer Certificate Short Term Programme in CSR Management

New Delhi, December 2, 2014:  The Indian School of Business (ISB) and the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) have signed an Agreement to jointly offer a Certificate Programme in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Management. The Agreement was signed by Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, Director General and CEO, IICA and Pradeep Singh, Deputy Dean, ISB and CEO (Mohali campus) in New Delhi today.

Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee said, "With CSR a buzzword today, the IICA is excited to launch a one of its kind 16 weeks Certificate Short Term Programme (STP) in CSR that will capture the expertise of the institute in this domain. This would train and develop senior leadership, and is likely to contribute significantly towards effective implementation of the new legislation.”

"This CSR Certificate Programme brings a unique blend of management theory, practice and strategy with sustainable and responsible corporate citizenship that will benefit India and the world immensely. The world class faculty at the ISB with its proven global expertise in teaching and research-backed consulting will add tremendous value to the roll-out of this Programme in the region", said Pradeep Singh, Deputy Dean ISB and CEO Mohali campus, outlining the ISB’s contribution to this initiative.

A first of its kind, the programme, which will commence in June 2015, comes at an opportune time when the Indian corporate sector is gearing up to build capacity for its CSR initiatives in the light of the new Companies Act 2013 mandating 2% of company profits for CSR activities. An approximate 16,000 companies will be undertaking several CSR projects in compliance with the directive. This mandates a huge requirement for professionals who can lead and run CSR projects for these organisations and the joint STP in CSR will lead the way in addressing this gap to meet the needs of the industry.
The Programme brings about the perfect alignment between management practices, corporate strategies and CSR as per Section 135, Companies Act 2013  that will be beneficial for officials from the Indian and global corporate and public sector entities.

Programme Details
IICA has been at the forefront of training and awareness generation initiatives on CSR in its capacity as the dissemination arm of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. Uniquely positioned at the cusp of policy-making bodies, corporate entities and implementing agencies, IICA is an indisputable leader in the CSR thought process. It has already successfully launched the first long term 9 months IICA Certificate Programme (ICP) in CSR in October 2014. This STP in CSR with ISB is IICA’s effort to partner with institutions of the highest caliber that will help deliver the course and bring additional value through their own expertise and experience.
ISB, with its proven track record of high quality faculty and industry-relevant programmes, is an ideal partner to this initiative. ISB’s Action Learning Methodology will significantly contribute to programme outcomes as each participant would be guided towards identification and execution of a CSR project. This will help them translate their classroom learning to the field through management of the project from end to end.
The programme has been co-designed for delivery at ISB’s Hyderabad and Mohali campuses and the IICA campus at Manesar by the National Foundation for CSR (NFCSR), IICA and the Center of Executive Education (CEE), ISB. Offered as a hybrid model combining classroom and online learning, the programme will be spread over a period of 16 weeks and includes three on-campus contact sessions. Participants will continue the course online during the interim periods through ISBs Technology Aided Learning (TAL) tools.
Officials and executives from the private and public sectors as also not-for-profit organisations with an average of six to seven years of work experience will be eligible for admission into the CSR Short Term programme. The programme is designed to also enable and build the capacity of participants who are not necessarily from the CSR domain but have to execute this function within their organisations. It will empower such executives with the knowledge to develop CSR activities in the Project mode and also run them, thus enhancing the social value for their organization.
The programme will be delivered by the best of faculty from the IICA and ISB along with the international faculty from top global b-schools, Independent consultants, industry leaders and thought leaders in this area.  Through case studies, lectures, and small group discussions participants will examine how other corporations have successfully implemented CSR projects to align to their strategy and have integrated these with their long term business goals.
Both ISB and IICA have been engaged in the task of capacity-building of professionals through several management and social impact programmes. In addition to IICA’s highly experienced and committed faculty,  the resident and international faculty at the ISB bring with them expertise in latest global management practices.
