Bajaj Auto Pledges Support to ISB to expand learning facilities, funds Scholarships

April 22, 2015: The Indian School of Business (ISB), with campuses at Mohali and Hyderabad, has announced it has received financial support from Bajaj Auto to further enhance learning resources for its research and education activities. Bajaj Auto has also instituted three scholarships to support deserving students of ISB’s Post Graduate Programme (PGP).

In recognition of this contribution, the School has named the library at its Hyderabad Campus, as the Bajaj Auto Library. The library was inaugurated by Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi in the presence of ISB Chairman Adi Godrej, Rahul Bajaj, ISB Board Directors and the School leadership.

Learning resources are fundamental to an educational institution especially to a research focused institution such as ISB. The financial support of Rupees 30 crores from Bajaj Auto will enable ISB to enhance the world class learning resources that it provides to its faculty and students. In addition, the funding will enable the School to provide financial support to deserving students. Three students from the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) will be selected as Bajaj Auto Scholars.

Making the announcement, Rahul Bajaj, Chairman, Bajaj Auto, Ltd, said, “In the process of nation building, leadership plays a very important role. ISB which is considered a premier institute builds strong leadership for business management and has been in the forefront of research in the field of management. ISB has acquired international reputation for its academic work in imparting post graduate education.  Bajaj Auto considers its duty and responsibility to support such institutions.“
Thanking the Bajaj Group for its support, Ajit Rangnekar, Dean, ISB said, “We would like to place on record our deep appreciation for the leadership of Bajaj Auto, for its continued support to ISB over the years. This contribution will enable ISB to provide world class learning resources to our students and faculty and also unlock resources that can further our mission of research and education.  It will also help ISB to attract deserving and meritorious students to pursue their studies. The ISB hopes to significantly enhance its contribution to the industry, government and society through its research and education activities and support from corporates will play an important role in helping the School make an impact.”
ISB – an example of Philanthropy
ISB has been founded through the philanthropic contributions from several corporations, individuals, and foundations. It is a testimony to the model that world class institutions cannot be built without such support.  The school actively engages and seeks support from corporates and individuals to support its research agenda. In the last year, the Centre for Family Enterprise was set up at ISB through the support from Dr Thomas Schmidheiny of Spectrum Value Management and the National Stock Exchange (ISB) helped the ISB to set up a real time trading Lab for its students at the campus. In addition, the young and successful network of ISB alumni has started contributing to the school.
Till date, corporates and individuals across the world  have supported the ISB in various ways –  setting up of the two campuses, additions to infrastructure and facilities , awarding scholarships, funding research projects and other educational or capacity building interventions all of which results in larger public good. On its part, the school has been committed to recognize each support through appropriate mechanisms. The School  is  a not for profit company under Section 25 of the Indian Companies  Act and works on an endowment and annual giving on the lines of top global B schools.
