US Ambassador to India His Excellency Richard Verma visits the Indian School of Business
The US Ambassador to India, His Excellency Richard Verma, visited the Mohali campus of the Indian School of Business. He had earlier visited the Hyderabad campus in February this year.
Pradeep Singh, CEO Mohali campus and Deputy Dean, ISB, and D N V Kumara Guru, Director External Relations and Human Resources welcomed the Ambassador. They briefed him about ISB’s partnerships with some of the leading schools across the world, the four institutes that ISB houses and gave him a glimpse into the research focus and activities at the school and the contribution of the ISB faculty the school’s research success. The Ambassador then went on a short tour of the campus.
The Ambassador then met students, faculty members and staff and talked about his time in India and his connections to the country, especially Punjab and the strong connect even after many years.Taking his own example, the ambassador stressed on the importance of cross-cultural exchange and discussed the merits of international and student exchange Programmes. He also spoke about the strength of the current Indo-US ties and how he saw the trade relations improving in the times to come.
Ambassador Verma opened the floor and invited questions from the students present in the room. Since ISB students come from diverse backgrounds, the questions ranged from topics such as the much spoken about Indo-US nuclear deal, Terrorism, Education, US’s commitment to Make in India and the Trans-pacific highway to Education. The ambassador answered the questions with a lot of fervor and expressed optimism of issues that the two countries were still in the process of resolving. The visit concluded on high note with students thanking the Ambassador and felicitating him.
