ISB Updates

Success is the first step to failure

‘One should always work towards building his/her little successes and keep the ball of success rolling. The moment that process stops- you are on the first step towards failure’, said the 83 year old management guru, Dr. Shoji Shiba (Padma Shree), JICA CSM Project Leader, and Professor Emeritus, University of Tsukuba, Japan, speaking at the ISB Dean’s Speaker Series at our Mohali Campus.

“I am delighted to have the honor of welcoming Dr Shoji Shiba and his colleague’s .It is an honor to have a person of his stature and intellect among us”, said Pradeep Singh, Deputy Dean & CEO Mohali campus, ISB, commencing the session

Setting the context for DSS, Professor Rajendra Srivastava, Dean, ISB, remarked that ISB is very fortunate to have access to thought leaders and how DSS is an attempt to share the wealth of knowledge that we have access to, with the larger community. He further added that Dr Shiba embodies all the three criteria that ISB believes in - balancing theory and practice, blending the best of East & West and creating an impact on business & government

Dr. Shiba, the international expert in Total Quality Management (TQM) and Breakthrough Management explained how a meeting with former Indian president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam inspired him to support the Indian manufacturing sector, which became the start of his journey towards success. This was followed by a very engaging Q&A session with the audience

The inspiring and engaging Dean’s Speaker Series is an initiative of Dean Srivastava; DSS is delivered by eminent thought leaders visiting the School through the year. It is designed to bring together leading academicians and global thinkers who engage with ISB in line with our vision of making an impact on management practice, scholarship and policy.
