Results announced for ISB-Ivey Global Case Competition 2013

98 entries were received from countries worldwide A team from the SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai bagged the first place in the fourth ISB-Ivey Global Case Competition, which is aimed at expanding the pool of cases on Indian organisations. Authors of  the winning case study, “EVOE Spring Spa: A Positioning Dilemma, ”  Ashita Aggarwal Sharma, Renuka Kamath, both assistant professors at SPJIMR, and Sunil Rao, a PhD scholar, beat 97 other entries to win the award, which comes with US$4,000 in prize money  and a publishing deal.  In second place, with an award of $3000 and a publishing deal, is “Reboot Systems: A ‘Frugal Innovation’ Approach to Bridge India’s Digital Divide (Part A),” by Srividya Raghavan, Assistant Professor, Institute of Management Technology, Hyderabad.

There were also a winners announced in the special categories of Marketing, sponsored by Sage Publishing, and Entrepreneurship, sponsored by the Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurial Development (WCED) at ISB, both carrying a price award or $2000, and a publishing deal.  The winning case in the Entrepreneurship category is “To Be or Not to Be: Talent Management in a Growing Recruitment Process Outsourcing Firm,” by Anamika Sinha, Assistant Professor,  Institute of Management, Nirma University and Biju Varkkey, Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. In the Marketing category, the prize winner is “Edible Agro” Atanu Adhikari, Assistant Professor, IIM Kozhikode and Arna Das, Post-Doctoral Researcher, National Institute of Research on Jute & Allied Fibre Technology (ICAR).

The ISB-Ivey Global Case Competition is organised by the Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Case Development (CTLC) at ISB in partnership with Richard Ivey School of Business, The University of Western Ontario. The event is supported by European Association for Management Development (EFMD) and the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS).

This annual global case competition aims to identify and publish the best case studies on Indian businesses, a fast growing area of interest in management studies both in India and abroad.  A panel of internationally acclaimed subject experts judge each case in a double-blind review process and provide written feedback on each case. The top cases from this competition are marketed to a global audience of business schools as ISB-Ivey Cases through Ivey Publishing and Harvard Publishing (Harvard University, US)—the two largest sources of business cases in the world.
