Professor Sankar De Elected as President of the Asian Finance Association (AsFA)

Professor Sankar De has been recently elected President of the Asian Finance Association (AsFA). He will serve a term of two years from July 2012 to June 2014. He served on the Board of Directors of AsFA during the last two years.

The Asian Finance Association (AsFA) is the umbrella body for the finance faculties at all business schools in the Asia-Pacific region. The membership includes some financial institutions as well. It is the youngest of the three international associations in the field of finance, the other two being the American Finance Association and the European Finance Association. AsFA was created in 1993 to promote finance research (especially relating to the Asia-Pacific region), disseminate the findings, and facilitate exchange of information, ideas and other resources among educators, and between business executives and academics, through conferences and publications.

Professor Sankar De is the first person from an institution in South Asia to become the President of AsFA.
