Professor Krishnamurthy Subramanian has been appointed as the Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India
ISB community is delighted at the appointment of Professor Krishnamurthy Subramanian as the Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India.
Professor Subramanian’s association with ISB started with a visiting appointment in 2009, and he joined the school’s faculty in the Finance area as an Assistant Professor in 2010. He was promoted as an Associate Professor with tenure in April 2015. More recently, in 2017, he was appointed the Executive Director of the Centre for Analytical Finance. In December 2014, Subbu was named as the recipient of the inaugural Alumni Endowment Research Fellowship.
Subbu has been a very active contributor to ISB’s intellectual environment. His research in banking, law and finance, innovation and economic growth, and corporate governance has been published in leading journals, including The Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and the Journal of Law and Economics. He serves as the Associate Editor of Financial Management and Journal of Corporate Finance.
He serves on the Boards of Bandhan Bank, Reserve Bank of India Academy and National Institute of Bank Management. He has been a member of some significant committees like PJ Nayak Committee on Governance of Bank Boards; Member of Uday Kotak on Corporate Governance SEBI; Member of SEBI Standing Committee on Primary Markets; Member of SEBI Standing Committee on Secondary Markets. As someone who regularly writes op-ed pieces in leading business newspapers, Subbu has contributed to enhancing the brand and visibility of ISB.
This appointment of an ISB faculty member to a very important office in the Government of India is very prestigious and something that makes us all proud. We wish Professor Subramanian all the very best in his new assignment.
