Firms will benefit by having a better understanding of the search behaviour of their inventors, which in turn helps them optimally utilise their knowledge resources. Since large amounts of knowledge reside within the firm’s boundaries, the utilisation of this knowledge base by its knowledge workers is an important issue for managers.
