ISB, Panchkula Administration to mentor a village in Haryana

The Indian school of Business (ISB) and the District Administration Panchkula have jointly launched a path-breaking initiative – the 'Village Mentoring Project' to mentor Rajjipur village in Panchkula District of Haryana. A visit to the village Rajjipur and interactions with the parents of children marked the launch of the project whereby Vivek Atray, Deputy Commissioner Panchkula and DNV Kumara Guru, Director External Relations, ISB were present with their respective teams. The students and staff of ISB also presented a street play on the theme of ‘Continuing girl education, sanitation, hygiene and nutrition’ along with a counselling session with village residents.
Talking about the project, Vivek Atray, Deputy Commissioner Panchkula said, “This is a unique initiative wherein ISB would mentor village residents towards adopting a more progressive approach in the upbringing of the girl child. Healthcare related and educational parameters would be the focus of the intervention.”
ISB aims to be a facilitator and aggregator for initiatives that will create awareness on key issues and can make a positive impact on the lives of the village denizens.
The ISB community comprising its staff, students and their families are spearheading this initiative by undertaking various activities to be spread across a span of six months along with the District Administration Panchkula. The activities will include street plays, counseling sessions, health camps, engaging with the school kids, mentoring and more.
The Village Mentoring Project (VMP) is the first of its kind in the State of Haryana where villages in the State would be mentored by leading corporate houses, educational institutions and other organisations.
