ISB hosts special session on 'Understanding US Elections'

The Indian School of Business(ISB) hosted a special session on ‘Understanding US Elections’ at its Mohali campus with Joyce Peppin (Republican), Majority Leader in the Minnesota House of representatives and Jeff Moris (Democrat), Washington State House of Representatives. Both Joyce and Jeff shared their views and insights on one of the most watched events globally - the US elections, its electoral process, role of financing, media among others.

Opening the session, Joyce Peppin said that it was her first visit to India and she considers it to be an honour to be here.  She gave an overview of elections and spoke about the two party system, difference between Caucus and primary state and also touched upon the role of finance and media in the US elections.

Morris highlighted the role of technology and media and said many of the changes brought about in the last 20 years in the electoral process have been technology driven. He also spoke about the nature of advertising, use of social media and support through analytics to effectively trace the campaign and its impact.

Both Moris and Joyce interacted with the ISB community and dignitaries from the Tri city region. The session ended with both of them agreeing unanimously that no matter which party comes in power, the relationship between India and USA will only become stronger.
