ISB CELEBRATES TENTH ANNIVERSARY

The Indian School of Business (ISB, marks its tenth anniversary today, culminating its year-long celebratory events in different cities across India and the world to mark this momentous occasion.

Since its inception in 2001, ISB has carved a niche for itself and pioneered several new trends in management education in India. In 2008, ISB was recognised globally for being the youngest institution in the world to be ranked among the Top 20 Global B-schools by the Financial Times, London. Since then, ISB has been consistently featured in the Top 20 B-schools and is currently ranked 13th globally.

Besides the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), the School has expanded its course offerings to provide the first certificate programme targeted at senior executives – the Post Graduate Programme in Management for Senior Executives (PGPMax), which was launched in 2009. This is in addition to being the largest provider of Executive Education in India, and amongst the largest in Asia. Through these courses, the alumni body has grown to over 3,500 for the PGP and more than 12,000 for Executive Education.

At the core of ISB’s strengths, is its strong pool of research-oriented resident faculty and visiting faculty from top management institutions worldwide.  The resident faculty members are highly-acclaimed in their respective domains of expertise and have been published in several top-tier journals. In this tenth year, the School boasts 49 resident faculty members, up from just four in its founding year.

It is ISB’s strength in research that has allowed the School to focus on issues pertinent not just to India and Asia, but also those related to developing the emerging markets. It is one of the only institutions in the world to have a dedicated Centre of Excellence for issues pertaining to the Emerging Markets – the Centre for Emerging Markets Solutions (CEMS), which focuses on areas like affordable housing, energy, healthcare, etc.

ISB has not just been regarded in the academic and industry circles but also by the Government. In the last decade, the School has been graced with the presence of prominent Government dignitaries including then-Prime Minister of India, A B Vajpayee who inaugurated the ISB campus in 2001, President-elect A P J Kalam who presided over the first Graduation Day in June 2002, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh who graced the five-year anniversary celebrations and recently, President Smt Pratibha Patil who visited ISB as part of the School’s tenth anniversary celebrations.

The School will continue to strive towards excellence as it steps into the next decade, and with the launch of the second campus in Mohali, ISB will further extend its vision to groom more young leaders and make impactful changes in society.

ISB thanks its founding associate Schools – the Kellogg School of Management, and The Wharton School for their continued support and guidance.
