ISB Updates
ISB’s research focus proves its success again
Demonstrating placement success of a different kind by the School, a bunch of research associates and academic associates, working at the Indian School of Business (ISB), will soon leave for foreign shores having achieved admission to doctoral programmes at premier global universities.
This is yet another testimonial to the rich research ecosystem at the premier Indian management education institution that not only conducts its own PhD programme but also grooms young researchers to pursue doctoral programmes elsewhere. In a manner of speaking ISB is also addressing the acute shortage of quality faculty world over.

That 19 Research and Academic Associates have been admitted to top ranked PhD programs in the USA this year bears testimony to this fact. In fact, in the last five years ISB has sent over 55 RAs/AAs to top ranked PhD programs abroad.
The graph below provides six years’ trend data.

Rajendra Srivastava, Dean and Novartis Professor of Marketing Strategy and Innovation, ISB, congratulated the 19 Associates and said, "ISB is providing a talent pool to the world and in fact it looks to a day when they would come back to India, richer in experience and a world view to give back to the country. Apart from 200 plus visiting faculty who teach at the School regularly, ISB also employs 54 resident faculty almost all of them doctorates from premier American and other global universities.
While they benefit from this rich pool of factuly at ISB, the RAs and AAs also play a critical role in the School’s vibrant research ecosystem.
The school has a very rigorous process of selecting its RAs and AAs. Many of them come from institutions such as IITs, IIIT, Delhi School of Economics, IGIDR, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, IIMs , BITS Pilani, Indian Statistical Institute, JNU, and some of them have already earned their Post Graduate qualifications from schools abroad. They come from diverse professional backgrounds. Each researcher works for a faculty member. A significant contribution to their success is their exposure to high quality empirical research and the opportunity to apprentice with world class faculty from ISB and top global B schools.

ISB provides generous funding to research projects, for its faculty, through research grants. Its unique tenure-track system for faculty requires hiring research associates from premier institutes to assist them in research as well as collaboration with world class researchers from our associate institutions including Kellogg, Wharton, Chicago, INSEAD, UCLA etc. This is in line with the school’s vision to create and disseminate research-based knowledge in management that influences scholarship, practice and policy.
Given below is an Indicative list of universities where ISBs RAs and AAs have been accepted:
