The Biggest Ever Solstice Concludes in Great Style

The ‘Biggest Solstice Ever’ left behind a panoply of memories that will continue to enthral us for a long time. An immensely entertaining weekend of Solstice, the annual alumni reunion event of ISB, saw the School host over 1000 alumni and their families at the Hyderabad Campus.

This year, it was special for the reunion classes - PGP Co ‘03 and PGP Co ‘08, as they celebrated their homecoming. The reunion saw about 30% participation from each of the classes. Every nook and corner of the campus buzzed and glittered with the joy of homecoming. Volunteers from the current class and the staff volunteers orchestrated the event to make it a grand success. Pulkit Chhabra and team, take a bow!

In a show of camaraderie and warmth, the students also hosted alumni in their studios and quads, some of them even vacating their spaces to accommodate them.  The social media universe was abuzz with Solstice updates. There were several events meticulously planned for alumni and their families, with a right mix of fun and learning.

The three-day long homecoming kicked off with a fete followed by ISB Angel Network-VC Connect event addressed by Dean Srivastava. The event saw a host of angel investors and entrepreneurs connect, to build businesses together. This was followed by Tree Plantation in memory Late Shadab Hasan Tariq (PGP Co ‘10) and Late Niyaz Siddique (PGP Co ‘10). This is a unique event that demonstrates respect for the departed souls and ensures their memory is kept alive.

An exclusive interaction with the reunion classes was organised, as the Dean gave updates on the School and the way forward. The alumni were really enthused by Dean Rajendra Srivastava’s energy, focus and clarity of thought. As the sunlight declined, Sorabh Pant, rated amongst India's top 10 stand-up comedians, took over and tickled the funny bone with his Standup Comedy act. The legendary Co ‘08 lounge saw some vigorous hip shaking to the tunes of Nanok - one of the veteran DJs from Mumbai.

After a gala night, another day full of exciting events dawned. The most awaited ‘Back to Classroom’ session was hosted by Prof. Bhagwan Chowdhry where he spoke in detail about Bitcoins and Cryptocurrencies, its usage and analysing its future trend. Needless to say, Prof. Chowdhry ensured great CP!

The Mini Literature Book Fest saw celebrity author Prashant Jha, dissecting the strategies of BJP as a political party in marketing itself to a superpower. Other authors from the alumni and student community too chipped in. The ISB Masterchef Cookoff hosted by Culinary Lounge challenged the culinary skills of our alumni. The last-minute confirmation of Rana Daggubati was an icing on the cake and the venue overflowed with Bahubali enthusiasts. Rana covered an array of topics, including acting, entrepreneurship and business.

The most entertaining evening, Star Night, with Vishal-Shekar, saw everyone from the ISB Community gather and witness a concert that was ‘Larger than Life’ with the talented duo. To top it off was the excellent performance by the Dhol group from Nasik.
