Abstract:
Revenue management is broadly concerned with the optimal allocation of a limited, perishable resource to multiple customer segments with different valuations for a unit of the resource. While the canonical example is airlines, revenue management practices find applications in a variety of settings such as hotels, car rentals, and media advertising. This talk will review revenue management models and solution algorithms starting with the classical Littlewood’s rule before moving onto more recent work on customer choice and network revenue management.
